Masterclasses at Lark Studios

Our Masterclasses are designed for music creators and enthusiasts alike who aspire to enhance their recording skills and elevate their productions. Participants will get the unique chance to experience a real-world recording session.

Whether you're a beginner looking to get some hands-on studio experience, or are more experienced and want to refine your theoretical knowledge, these Masterclasses offer a fantastic platform to learn and interact with other like minded enthusiasts.

The Fundamentals of Record Production: 10am - 1pm on 19th October

This Masterclass will take participants through the process of making a contemporary pop/ rock track in fine detail. From pre-production and the tracking stage to the final recording, you will gain invaluable insight into arrangement, instrumentation, creative audio engineering and sound design. Led by our in-house producer and engineer, you will be taken through a step by step breakdown of a pre recorded track to understand the various techniques and methods used in a professional studio production.

The Art of Mixing: 2pm - 5pm on 19th October

Following on from the Fundamentals of Record Production, this Masterclass will focus on mixing - one of the most important elements of music post-production. Participants will be guided through the process of creating a professional mix from the ground up, starting with basic topics such as level balancing and panning, demystifying concepts such as EQ and compression, and exploring the creative uses of spatial effects and modulation. This interactive mixing session will give you a chance to learn professional tried and tested mixing techniques while having a hands on creative experience in our studio.

Although these masterclasses can be booked separately, participating in both is highly recommended to gain a well rounded understanding of the full production process. Your newly acquired knowledge will take your own music productions and mixes to the next level!

We will be repeating our The Art of Recording Guitar and Drums Masterclasses later this year and look to put more Masterclasses and workshops on in the future.
